Fantasy Grounds: Virtual Tabletop for Pen & Paper RPGs

OverviewSystem RequirementsScreenshots

Smiteworks LogoFantasy Grounds is an online virtual tabletop software that provides tools for GMs and players alike. It provides GMs and players with everything they would need for a table topping experience, including maps, notes, character sheets, fully interactive dice that allow you to roll any size stack, and a drag and drop option for hot keys, the chat window and character sheet.

It provides the GM with the ability to use pen and paper to tools to create a map on the fly, or to import a premade map. The GM and the players all have access to tool to adjust the map, including a cone, sphere and arrow maker to outline areas of effect for attacks or spells. The GM can also use a mini map tool to focus the map over the players or block off parts of the map – like what’s beyond that locked door.

The chat system allows players to chat in and out of character, to use actions and even emote. They can send messages to each other or the GM can use this option to share information with a specific character. The GM can even use the drag option to give modifiers that can be added or subtracted from specific rolls for a character.

Fantasy Grounds also features a mini sheet that allows GMs and player to track wounds, stat modifiers, ammo and help them keep the screen free of clutter. There’s even a separate mini sheet used to help spell casters. Character sheets also have linked calculation fields to distribute quantities like a BAB, attack bonuses and skill rolls.

Fantasy Grounds also has a large community, making it that much easier for GMs to get help, advice, tip and find a rule set for just about every table top system available.
