kLoOge.Werks is a virtual tabletop written for java, which allows it to be run on all modern platforms, including, Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. The program allows for modifications including: which system is in use, whether Initiative runs up or down, the ability to use meters or feet for battles and scaling, and even how long a single round lasts. kLoOge.Werks also allows the owner to import just about anything they want – from character sheets, to maps, tokens, and overlays for the images. GMs can even ‘hide’ a player from others.
The GM can choose to tie sounds and GIFs to events, such as spells, hits, misses, and traps all at the touch of a button. The program supports WAV, AU, OGG and MP3 files. The dice are fully customizable – you can set them to numbers or events and use them for everything, including how the weather is for that particular instance. Also available is the ability to control how the dice display their results, meaning that GMs can program the dice to say ‘success’ or ‘critical’ depending on the dice roll, greatly reducing the amount of time to determine hits or misses.
kLoOge.Werks also has a large, active user community that is available for new GMs or players and it’s also a great place to search for inspiration for a campaign.
